Digital Inclusion
An ITU reports that from 2013 to 2016, the global Internet user gender gap grew from 11% to 12%. This widening gap affects women's empowerment and societal development. Therefore, immediate and measurable action from various stakeholders is crucial to address this issue and ensure women benefit from ICTs.
Targeted action by a range of stakeholders is required to address the gender gap in Internet access and use. Addressing the barriers preventing women from accessing the Internet requires a concerted effort. The roles of governments, policymakers, private sector, inter-governmental organizations, NGOs, and academia need coordination for effectively bridging the digital divide.
